So, as we draw into part2 of my journey into erotic storytelling, i have to say, it was very scary being this vulnerable, I mean, it’s not every day you get to talk about what led you to a path of lust, fantasy and sexual exploration through sound, but i felt like I needed to share this, a lot of women, men and kin alike who go through phases of uncertainty, particularity in sexuality and in such a judgmental world these curiosities are often shut down by projected ‘social norms’, partners, friends and the biggest one is our own selves in fear of what others will think or how we will perceived, being b-curious, wanting to expand or experiment all seems against the norms, now this not saying everyone that listens to or watches pornography, or even has thoughts or fantasies about exploration needs to act on it or even that they will, it’s about having the space, a safe space, non-judgemental to even talk about them if you want. That’s where erotic storytelling came in for me, it was a space in where I was able to be free, people alike posting and putting their deepest fantasies on paper and then voicing them in a way others could immerse themselves. Understanding and knowing you aren’t alone and this a very normal part of sexuality, often people are tied by religious or societal bounds that hold them, these leave thoughts of wrongdoing when its completely normal, but no one really talks about this. This can be applied to many other areas such as masturbation and kink. With all that said I will continue, one of my first books on fantasies was ‘my secret garden’ by Nancy Friday, I managed to get hold of this whilst sorting some books in my aunt’s stash, I looked at the front and I was drawn immediately, a million-copy bestseller, author of the forbidden flower, I read on, women’s fantasies. Why hadn’t i seen this before, I opened the first page and I was hooked, my question, other women feel this way too? And the text, not subtle at all, it explored al of my answers, why fantasies? Approval, insatiability, foreplay, masturbation, the list went on and I found a sense of relief, my second book of fantasies, Want, by Gillian Anderson, I was bought as a present, it filled me with joy and even acceptance, an enhanced perspective on the work I do and why. There are confessions in this book that would make a grown man blush, from co worker secret fantasies, to stranger encounters and even the forbidden ‘rape’ fantasies, these are all in anonymous letters by women all over the world, and as I read on, I saw a very predictable and familiar pattern, the ‘ I don’t know what my partner would think of me if I were to express these’, the ‘if I ever opened up my marriage or partnership I will be judged’. So, you see, these pressing issues that evidently have proven to hold us back, slowly are breaking away, my goal? Sexual freedom, to those who feel stifled, to voices who have been muffled under rule, freedom to be your true self, in all its glory, without fears, without judgement and most importantly with understanding and acceptance.
